The two most common Silk rug pads are made from repurposed fibers and synthetic rubber. Silk rug padding made from these materials can save someone’s life. Please make sure the Rug Pad on the floor where the rug will go. Make sure the rug pad does not have any creases in it. You’ll want the pad material to be completely flat on the floor. Once you’ve done that, you place the rug on top of the pad and lay it out the same way over it.
If you’ve done your homework correctly, the dimensions of the Silk rug will not be more than the dimensions of the Silk rug pad. Otherwise, the sides and edges of your rug will hang down over the rug padding, and it’ll create an uneven and unattractive look. But if the dimensions of your rug padding are more extended, then that is no big deal. The only downside is that it won’t look right to have a more oversized underneath your rug. At least the entire rug will stay protected, though.
Whatever you do, stay away from rug pads with clay fillers in them. These are dangerous fillers to your rug material because they’ll eventually break down into a messy powdery substance that stains your rugs and damages them forever. It is challenging to remove clay stains from a rug without being aggressive. And if you’re aggressive, then you’ll damage the rug. So, it is a low-lose situation.
